The Rössli in Wittenbach looks back on a long tradition: the name of the hotel comes from the so-called "Rösslipost", which organised the transport of letters and passengers between St.Gallen and the Lake Constance region. The horses of the "Rösslipost" stopped here and were given their portion of oats at the old Rösslischeune, while the postilion and guests lingered in the parlour.
The "Rössli" restaurant has been owned by four generations of the Müller family since 1886. The building was continuously expanded and was ultimately run as a restaurant, hotel and event gastronomy.
In November 2015, the property has been transferred to the company Hengartner + Partner Luft- und Klimatechnik AG from Wittenbach. The hotel operates as a bed and breakfast hotel now.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Hotel Garni Rössli!

Wittenbach is the second largest municipality in the electoral district of St.Gallen. The name goes back to the medieval feudal estate of Widenbächi and has found its pictorial representation in the municipal coat of arms of Widen am Bach. In the new town centre, just a few minutes' walk from the Rössli, you will find various shops and restaurants. Egg Castle, the Catholic church, the school building and other old buildings invite you back to a historic era with fantastic views from the Alpstein to Lake Constance.
The old town of St.Gallen with its UNESCO World Heritage-listed abbey district surprises with cosy restaurants and idyllic parks, with shopping miles in picturesque old town alleyways - all within walking distance. The local recreational areas as well as shopping and leisure centres with the comprehensive range of facilities of a large city are also easily and quickly accessible by public transport.
The St.Gallen-Lake Constance region in eastern Switzerland offers ideal conditions for first-class cycle tours and unforgettable excursions by bike or e-bike. With the idyllic Lake Constance, flowering meadows and nature reserves, it is a paradise for outdoor activities.
